CABG (Bypass Surgery)

Surgical Solution for Severe Coronary Artery Blockages

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) — commonly known as bypass surgery — is a procedure used to restore normal blood flow to the heart by bypassing severely blocked or narrowed arteries. At Dr. Siva Prasad’s Hrudayalaya, CABG is performed by highly experienced cardiothoracic surgeons using advanced surgical techniques and technology.

This procedure is often advised when angioplasty is not suitable, or when multiple arteries are blocked.

How the Procedure is Done:

  • The patient is placed under general anesthesia.

  • Healthy arteries or veins from the leg or chest are harvested.

  • These vessels are grafted to bypass blocked coronary arteries.

  • Blood flow is restored to the heart muscle.

  • The chest is closed and the patient is moved to ICU for recovery.

When It’s Recommended:

  • Multiple blocked arteries or severe coronary artery disease

  • Failure of angioplasty or stenting

  • Diabetes with heart disease

  • Left main artery blockage or reduced heart function
