Coronary Angioplasty

Life-Saving Treatment for Blocked Heart Arteries

Coronary Angioplasty, also known as Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), is a minimally invasive procedure used to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries and restore normal blood flow to the heart. At Dr. Siva Prasad’s Hrudayalaya, we provide 24×7 emergency and elective angioplasty services performed by experienced interventional cardiologists using advanced Cath Lab technology.

This procedure is often done after a Coronary Angiogram confirms the blockage.

How It’s Done:

  1. A thin catheter with a balloon is inserted into the blocked artery via the wrist or groin.

  2. The balloon is inflated to widen the artery and improve blood flow.

  3. A drug-eluting stent is usually placed to keep the artery open long-term.

  4. The catheter is removed and the patient is monitored in the ICU or CCU.

🕒 Procedure time: 30–60 minutes
🏥 Hospital stay: 1–2 days (varies by patient)

When is Angioplasty Recommended?

  • Acute heart attack (STEMI/NSTEMI)

  • Severe chest pain (unstable angina)

  • Blockages seen during coronary angiogram

  • Poor blood flow despite medication

  • Emergency rescue treatment for collapsing patients
